Ausini Fairyland Chamber Review (24413)

Fairyland Chamber

Set Number 24413
110 Pieces and 2 Minifigures

Introduction

I saw these new sets while browsing my local Sam's Warehouse store and simply couldn't resist picking an Ausini Fairyland Chamber set up for only $5.99. The original price for this set when it was first released was $9.99. The blue and purple pastel colours drew my eye to this set instantly and on a closer inspection I noticed how beautifully detailed it looked for a base plate that's only 10 x 20 studs.

Box/Instructions

The pink and purple box shows the completed model in a bright and cheerful style, but it appears that the image is computer generated rather than photographed from an actual model. The instructions were quite easy to follow with the previous steps being greyed out so you can clearly see what you're supposed to put on next. There are no pictures of alternate builds shown on the box. It notes that the set comes with 110 pieces and has a difficulty rating of two stars out of five. Recommended age for the build is 6 and up.

Minifigures

Upon opening the box, I discovered that the two minifigs included did not have the pale tan skin as advertised on the box, instead they had a ghastly grey shade that makes them look a little like zombies. I also found that the hair piece for one of the minifigs was the wrong one, making one of the girls look a little boyish instead. I didn't mind this so much.

The Build

The overall build time was less than half an hour. I had a little trouble getting the flowers to stay on while I was building as they would pop off if you touched them slightly. I decided to leave them off until the building was complete then I put all the accessories back on to solve the little flower problem. Some of the bricks weren't as easy to put on as the clutch power was a bit tight and young children might get frustrated easily with those particular bricks.

The Completed Model

Apart from those initial niggles about the minifigures, I found this set a delight to look at. The building itself is very sturdy and definitely looks better once the stickers are put on. I love how this set included three unique trees of different sizes and they all fit on the base plate next to the building along with the flowers. There's even two different coloured seats for the minifigs along with a cute round table. I was only a little disappointed to see a blank space between the wall and the door that could have easily been filled in by moving some of the bricks over a bit.

Pros

Lovely pastel blue and purple bricks
Lots of flowers and three unique trees
Easy and quick to build
Well furnished set for the price and size

Cons

Zombie skin colour
Not all bricks are easy to put on
No pictures of alternate builds

Conclusion

This is indeed a pretty little Fairyland Chamber and what's more, it's entirely up to you to decide what the purpose of the chamber is, whether it's for a cafe or convenient meeting place away from home. It's such a simple yet charming set and for the price, I think it was worth buying for the building experience and it will be a delightful beginning to what is sure to become a whole Fairyland Village.
